Isaiah 58:6-12

Isaiah 58:6-12
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed ones go free, and that you break every yoke? (7) Is it not to break your bread to the hungry, and that you should bring home the wandering poor? When will you see the naked and cover him; and you will not hide yourself from your own flesh? (8) Then shall your light break out as the dawn, and your health shall spring out quickly; and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of Jehovah shall gather you. (9) Then you shall call, and Jehovah shall answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, Here I am. If you take the yoke away from among you, the pointing of the finger, and speaking vanity; (10) and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. (11) And Jehovah shall always guide you and satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones fat; and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters fail not. (12) And those who come of you shall build the old ruins; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for the leaders in the church: Joseph Okoth, Steve Maremwa and Benson Okoth, Alfred Otieno, Ben Lippert, Peter Odoyo.
That they would grow in their classes, in maturity, in their communication of the Word, that the Lord would grant them wisdom.

Please pray that our Children in our childrens ministry will grow in their knowledge of the Lord. There are some kids that come to church without their parents. Pray that the Lord would use those kids to even teach their parents about the Lord.

We have a prison ministry on Thursdays for Men, the Lord has been doing a lot in the lives of those inmates. Pray for open hearts .

May Update This month has been busy with construction, travel and moving. I told you last month that we got a new place for the church which is great but there was a LOT of building required before we could move in. Well We are in! There is still a lot to do; more children’s ministry rooms, insulation walls and so on. But the great thing it.... we’re in! We are so excited to have a bigger place so that we don’t have to sit on each other anymore. (That’s an exaggeration but it is close enough to the truth). We had our first Sunday service yesterday which I will post a picture of. The Lord has provided a car for us that is much better on gas mileage and will save us so much money! This is also a huge blessing because Josh will not have to take Matatus (Death Busses are what I like to call them) to the bush anymore. This will allow us to travel a bit more for ministry and other things too! This also means that when Josh travels Layla and I might be able to come. We are so blessed and excited about this. But with the car comes a little bit of sadness. Our friends who sold the car are moving on out of Kenya to go serve the Lord elsewhere and we will miss them greatly. We see a great need for a sound system for the church so right when we moved into this new place we started renting one. This means that we greatly need one of our own. This will cost no less than about $1500 to get us started. Please pray with us for this. We know that the Lord can provide and will provide for that which He has called us to do. Pray for wisdom for Josh when making decisions about what to do next. Things are going well with the family. Layla is growing and learning more and more how to keep her mama busy. She is trying desperately to walk but hasn’t managed to do it yet on her own. Kelsey Is so excited to have some ladies to disciple. There have been two in particular that have approached us to say they wanted either a mentor or some discipleship. We has one girl coming over every Tuesday and they will be going through a book of the bible together. Please pray for wisdom for me (Kelsey) for how to minister to these women and show them just how awesome a relationship with the Lord is. Pray that I will know how to study the Word of God in a simple way that makes sense to them. Thank you all for praying. You all are such a blessing to us.

April

New Happenings: Praise the Lord we have found a new Church building that is not a whole lot more expensive than the place that we are in now. It is three times bigger and should be able to hold our church for a while. It is still in town which is a big deal for us; seeing as though town is a central location and we have people coming from every direction. We have a LOT of building that needs to take place now including building a very big wall to divide the place we are renting from other parts of the building. Please pray for funds for this project as building here can be expensive. The church is very excited. Last week we had at around 20 kids in our tiny children’s ministry room and they couldn’t even sit down. It was PACKED! We are leaving just in time. We are excited to say that we are laying our hands on 2 different leaders in our church. We have one deacon now and one elder! This is really exciting to see people stepping up to fill their place in the body of Christ. They are a HUGE blessing and encouragement to us. We also got to go to our new annual CC Missionaries retreat which was wonderful! The Lord spoke in such beautiful ways, encouraged our souls and it was wonderful to see friends too! Josh also got to teach at this retreat which was really cool. Many people were greatly blessed. About the Family: Layla is growing faster than we can keep up with. She says a few words like “Mama, Dada, Papa, and Hi” She just learned how to wave yesterday which was really exciting for us. She is trying desperately to walk and terrorize the whole house by emptying every cabinet she can find. Our family is doing well. Not to many sicknesses lately and we are praying that it stays that way. Prayer Requests: For more leaders to be raised up in the Church. For the Lord to send some people to help with the ministry that are trustworthy.
