Our family has just spent 4 months in the States traveling to many, many churches. we got to visit family friends and were able to be ministered to by Calvary Chapel Bangor, Maine. We left in the end of September and came back to Kenya for a another 2 year tour of duty.
The last few months have been a time of ministry associated with travel. Over 15 churches and 8 different states later our time in America has come to an end. God has allowed us and enabled us to minister, fellowship and be ministered to. It is a bittersweet thing to be going back; leaving family and friends, brothers and sisters and our home church. It is however a thrill to go continue what God has for us in Kenya.
God has been speaking in many different ways on the direction of Gospel for Kenya mission and we are looking forward to sharing the Gospel and making disciples of all nations. I know without Gods leading and the support of our donors and prayer partners our ministry would not be possible. I wish I could tell you all the stories of ministry in the past 4 months both in America and Kenya. I want to thank all of our donors and prayer partners. I believe we will never know the extent of what our prayers and financial giving have accomplished until we get to heaven. Thank you very much.
NEEDS: I am always asked about the needs of our family and the ministry, so I will be writing our needs in the newsletter that will be going out to our contacts. Due to the extent of are travel we go back to Kenya in the red. I would ask that you pray about how God would use you in this area. Also we need prayers, those who will sacrifice some of there time to pray for Gospel for Kenya, Calvary Chapel Eldoret, and the Lawrence family. I can’t tell you how much we appreciated all of you who prayed for Jael the day that she drown. Also we need labors in Kenya pray that God would send labors to his Harvest.
Yours Truly

Hi all,
<b>Whats going on with the Church</b>
This has been a great few months. 2 weeks ago we had our annual mens conference and it was a huge hit. Every time we do one we have men comment that they wish we had these more often. This year we had about 150 men gather together for a day long conference. We had 2 guest speakers come from Nairobi to share with the Eldoret men. They shared on Biblical culture, 2 separate sessions on Being a godly husband and a session on being a man of God. In this culture the women are often belittled and beaten by husbands, even men claiming to be christians so to have godly men come and tell them how to be the husbands Jesus calls them to is quite a revelation.
We have also started a saturday night evangelical service this past saturday (March 19th).We do a lot of worship and then an evangelical teaching. We want to get people into church and share the love of Christ and the Gospel with them.
<b>Whats going on with our family.
</b>
We have had 2 months of sickness with our family. We have a bad lingering bad cough particularly with our youngest babies, Zephaniah and Jael although Layla and Kelsey seem to be getting it a lot too. This has been pretty hard on us. We have been to the doctor numerous times and there is really nothing we can do about it except treat the symptoms and wait it out. All of Eldoret is in a very dry season and we live right off of a dirt road so the dust often makes people have a bit of a chronic cough. Please pray for healing for all of us. We are eager to be well again.
We have taken steps to planning our next trip to the United States. We are planning for the beginning of August so if you could pray for the preparation of this trip. It is quite expensive to fly 5 people across the world. We are excited to see family, friends and the churches that support our ministry out here. Also we are excited to introduce Jael to everyone since she has never been to the US.
We are 3 months into renewing our Work Permit for Kenya. This is what makes it possible for us to stay and serve in Kenya. They are giving us a bit of a hard time this time. It is taking longer than usual. Please pray with us for a faster process and for favor in immigration. They have been trying to kick westerners out and give all the jobs to Kenyans and in doing this they make it really hard for us to stay here. Pray for open doors, reasonable officers who are overseeing these processes and for patience for us. It gets a bit frustrating.
<b>Thank you all so much who pray for us and support us. We are so grateful. The Lord uses you to make this ministry possible. </b>

This is the month that all the kids are off school so it is also the time for a teens camp. We held a 3 day teen camp at our church and it went so well. a few kids raised their hands to give their lives to Jesus. We pray for then that they continue with Him. In Kenya your high school years are away at a boarding school so please be praying that the Lord will really use them as they are away as a witness for Him. Pray for strength to resist temptation.
We also had a great Christmas Eve Service. It is growing every year. '
Christmas day we had 3 different families come to our house for a meal; it was very nice to have family that the Lord has given us all the way out here.

October was the month that we were supposed to be moving onto the property that we leased for the church for 10 years. There was a big hold up when we started the construction on the land. We hired a construction company to come flatten and do lots of ground work and as they were about 3 days into the big project some people came on the land saying they also had a total deed to the very property we had just leased. In Kenya there is major corruption when it comes to the buying and selling of property. You have to really do your homework when thinking about buying or even leasing a lot for a good amount of time and we had. However, even when you do a land search at times documents have been forged or doubled and land is sold twice. This seems to be what happened with the property we leased so, Its in court now for the past few months. Everyone we talk to says that it is the rightful property of the lady we rented from and that we will be able to continue when the case is over it could just take a while. In the meantime, our money is tied up in this case.
Things with the church have been going great. We stated our School of ministry back up and that has been a blessing to see men come and receive discipleship and training in the Word of God. We have two men (John and Nathan) who travel an hour and a half to come to the school and it is so exciting to see their devotion to it even at their own expense. These are pastors of the Church that we put a borehole in for three years ago. Their church gets to reach the community through physical water and living water. Please pray for these men that they will continue to teach pure gospel, undefiled. These men stay at our house every Friday and leave early in the morning to get back to their families. The school of Ministry is going though the book Calvary Distinctives and it has been awesome to see a light come on about how church services should run without distraction, teaching through the Word of God etc...
Our Family is doing well, we moved in the beginning of October to a safer location we hope and it has been a huge blessing.
Please be praying for us as our work permit expires in January and the government has been really giving missionaries a hard time with renewing. Pray for provision for this things

Things have been going good. The Lord is amazing and continues to bless us and surprise us at every turn in life. He is are great love and our testimony is that God is good in every way.
We are moving! We just had the one year anniversary of our big robbery last year and have been doing all we can to secure this compound that we live on so our family could be a little safer. We have been looking for a safer location but prices are more than we could afford. We have a security system now which has worked well to keep people out of the house but it does not keep people off our property. We have had our fence stolen 2 or 3 times (people just come at night and cut it), recently someone came on the property and stole a tire off Josh’s truck etc… Its not a safe neighborhood. Well the good news is, we finally found a house in a “Safer” neighborhood and the property is much smaller so the dogs would be visible from most points on the compound also it is off the main road. The neighbors say that they have lived there for 8 years and have never had an issue. This is an exciting prospect. We have all the money for our rent. What we need help with is to install the system with the security company and the steel doors. Kindly pray, and ask the Lord if He would want to use you in giving to this need. Thank you for your prayers and support.

Its always a privilege to get to see young couples serve Jesus and get married. Elijah has been on our worship team for some time now and asked Josh to marry them. Sunday the 20th Elijah and Ester were married. Its always a Joy in the church to get to celebrate this together.
On the 24th Josh will be going to one of the Church plants from CC Eldoret and teaching the group of believers there in the Kakamega region. They are excited to have him come and we are excited to get to do this. He will come back with The pastor there and will be starting our school of ministry back up. Please pray for the church plant that the Lord will lead their Pastor by His Holy Spirit and that the Believers grow and are not deceived by the many different winds of doctrine.
Please pray that the School of Ministry here in Eldoret is used by the Lord and lead by His Holy Spirit. We know that its "Not by might, nor by power but by His Spirit says the Lord." so we rely on Him to do the instructing. Please pray for all who will take the courses that the Lord will use them and teach them.
There is a guy who has been attending our church since it started who was told that he has a brain tumor about 2 weeks ago. He has been on a waiting list to have surgery to remove it since that time. Would you pray with us for Franko? This is a very serious surgery and also very expensive for him. He does not have the money for it. If the Lord leads you to give to Franko for his brain surgery you can contact us.
Thank you all who pray for us and support us. We are so grateful. Hey Guys, August was a month of Joy and new adjustments. We are happy to announce that Kelsey gave birth the Jael Moriah, our third child. We were blessed to have two of Kelsey's sisters came from America to serve our family during this time. They were pretty much the nurses to Kelsey in the Hospital, the cooks and the cleaners of the house. They changed a lot of diapers too!!! The Lord has shown himself so faithful to us in keeping Kelsey and the baby safe in the hospital, through providing for our needs and for caring for the church here.
The Church is doing great, we have been trying to get a piece of land to lease for 10 years. We signed papers on it and everything and then lots of trouble broke out with a land dispute which is quite common here. We are praying that the Lord resolves this quickly so that we can pursue moving out of town and onto a piece of property. Please pray with us that the Lord would make things right and show us what to do for the church and for Land.

Tim Arbo and Alex Doten hand delivered a few big pieces of sound equipment for the church and we are happy to announce that it came without being damaged on the trip. This was a big deal because the Airport people here have been known to damage or cut wires to big pieces of sound equipment or things of that nature. Anyway.. ours made it safely. Our sound system has been acting on its own for a few months now and has become quite distracting during our services so we are very thankful to have this new stuff.
It was also just so encouraging to have friends out here to minister with us and just to have some fun too. Josh took some of the members of our church along with the team to mahoho (one of our church plants) to encourage and teach the church there. Its always a time of excitement for everyone. In Kenya its a big deal to get to visitors. This was a time of Fellowship, breaking of bread, teaching and worship which included dancing!.

Kelsey, Layla and Zephaniah also had their birthdays this month so it was packed with celebration.

For those of you who support us, Josh and I wanted to thank you again for your faithful support and to give you a small update on what the Lord is doing out here with the help of your support. We do realize that the economy has been terrible and that is why it means even more that you have stuck with us. Thank you. There are many missionaries who have to leave the mission field monthly because of lack of funds and we are able to stay because of your support.
The church is doing great and it is growing. We had a great Resurrection day service where many people came who don't usually attend Church. Its such a wonderful time to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and why He died, was buried and rose again.
This weekend Josh gets to go to Calvary Chapel Vihiga who is partnering with Operation Christmas Child and as the Locals pass out gifts Josh and some other people from out church gets to share the gospel with those receiving gifts. It is a really good time to share with them that the Lord loves them and sent the gift of His SON! Thank you all who participate in packing shoe boxes for OCC and those who pray. Its a huge blessing to get to be on this end of it.
This April I (Kelsey) get to go to her first missionary women’s retreat. This kids are finally old enough to stay without mommy for a few days and I am very excited to get this special time away to seek the Lord and to listen to a woman than me who has lived in Kenya for around 15 to 17 years.
We have had a lot of flu and sickness in our family this last few months which has been hard to deal. Please continue to pray for our little family that the Lord will bless us with health and with strength.
Josh is also going to do a wedding next saturday for Ben Lippert, the missionary who is serving with us at CC Eldoret. What a blessing it is to see!
We are so thankful for all of you guys praying for us and supporting us. November was a neat month for Josh. When we were in the States Josh won an all expenses paid trip on a historical tour with Gov Mike Huckabee and about 100 other pastors and political people. They went to Poland and England for about 6 days. Josh was able to go to different death camps in Poland and some big historical sites in London. This trip was pretty life changing for him. He was also able to see our pastor Ken Graves on the trip which was nice for him.
Kelsey and the Kids stayed back in Kenya while he was gone.
The First picture is the gate of one of the death camps.
The Second is a picture of Josh with Pastor Ken in London, England.

December
December was pretty busy with trying to convince the Kenya Railways corp to lease us some land for 10 years and also with planning and executing our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. These services were a huge blessing and incredibly fruitful. The Music was very nice and by the end of the Christmas eve service about 8 people gave their lives to the Lord. It is awesome to see what God does through the teaching of the Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

We also had a baby dedication on the Christmas morning service. The new mom and dad were eager to dedicate their baby to Jesus. What a blessing it was.

We made it back to Kenya Safely and were so excited to be back.
We were not here for two weeks when some Thugs came to our house in the middle of the night. They broke in, gassed us so we would be sleeping and robbed our whole house. When we woke the following morning one of our doors was wide open and many, many valuable things were gone. We didn't realize just how much they took till even weeks later when we would look for something and it wasn't there. They took Computers, a TV, iPads, a Kindle, they came into our bedrooms and took our phones even from beside our heads. We were sleeping the whole time. This really shook us up. Not just because of the stuff but because we found footprints even between the babies beds. There were so many more things that they took but the biggest thing that shook us was that they were in the house with our babies and we didn't even know it. The good thing is, nobody was hurt even thought they had stashed knives all around our house just "in case". This was a hard blow to come back and immediately this happens. We questioned many things... You know what? God showed himself SO faithful. We really learned what is valuable and what is just stuff. The fact that they gassed us was a sort of protection for our family. During this low time the Saints in Christ gathered around us so much. We were receiving so many messages reminding us of God's faithfulness, what God's protection, of forgiving enemies, of doing good to those who spitefully use us. God is faithful in the good and in the bad. God remains unchanging even when the world seems to tip upside down. Gods call for us hasn't changed just because we went through scary times. God's love for the people of Kenya is still passionate even if our passion was doused.
So... We bumped up our security, bought another dog and we move forward.
For all of you who sent messages, notes, money, prayers and those who just brought hugs and support, Thank you. Thank you more than you know. The Lord is the lifter of our head. We can have Joy even when our circumstances are not "happy".
<b>October</b>
So as some of you may have noticed we have not been getting our updates out. This is because we had no computer so it was hard to do anything with that. Sorry for those of you who may have been disappointed. The Lord provided a computer for us so now I can update all of you.
I just want to say, The Lord has done some amazing restoring of my (Kelsey's) heart during this trial by fire. I have been doing a Bible study through the book of Philippians that came just when I needed it. Joy doesn't come because of good circumstances, it comes Because of Gods Strength and Because He is the source. He is the object of our Joy.
The Church is doing good. We are praying for more children's ministry workers because we have a lot of 3 year olds and some of our workers are moving away! So you can be in prayer with us about that.
<b>Please continue to pray for all the things that need to be replaced.
Pray for continual healing for our hearts.
Pray that the Lord provides what we need for Land and for Church rent.
Josh has a trip to Europe with our Pastor and some Christian Politicians that is designed to teach about history. He is really looking forward to this trip especially because he WON it at an event that he went to. Please be praying for our family as he is gone since it is always hard for the kids</b>.
Here are just some family pictures from this month

We loved this time in the States but we were also ready to get back to Kenya and continue on with what the Lord called us to do. To ministry and Shepherd Calvary Chapel Eldoret. Saying goodbye is always hard but there were so many blessings and memories to take back with us.
Calvary Crossville put on a HUGE yard sale to help support the ministry we have going on out here. It was a time where we all worked hard together for this profit. We were so thankful for the care and devotion that was put into this time. It was a nice time of fellowship as well. It was a weekend yard sale that ended on Sunday with a Church service and Baptism with a big potluck. Josh's Mom and Aunt and their families were even able to come. It was such a sweet ending to this time.

As we Left the USA once again we were leaving with renewed courage, vision and passion to go back and serve well. Josh is still seeking to buy or long term lease a piece of land for the Church. Kelsey went back with a passion to start teaching the Ladies in our Church at some point and the Kids.... they were just looking forward to being home and "normality" again. Layla was pretty excited to ride on the airplane too!

The fellowship has been so refreshing and encouraging. We traveled to Maine in the beginning of June and got to stay with our Pastor, Ken Graves and his family. It was nice for us to see what God is doing in all of the churches in Maine as well as some others we got to go visit with. This was a bit tiring for the Kids and for us as well but when else can you go visit almost every church that you know all in a few months? Never... I should say.
The Lord also provided for Kelsey and the Kids to go stay in Washington State with her sister Laura and their Kids while Josh went to the West coast Calvary Senior pastor's conference. Kelsey and the kids had a great time with Laura and all the nieces and nephews. Josh was able to see so many long lost friends at the pastors conference as well. Josh then Came to mer the rest of us in Washington and to share with My Brother-in-law's Church which is Calvary Chapel Yakima. It is so nice getting to see all the different members in the Body of Christ.

We ended the month of July going back to Tennessee.Satisfied Soulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07345529865487480724noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166856299880270034.post-67969121265497464602014-05-31T02:51:00.000-07:002014-11-05T03:10:50.460-08:00April and MayHey Guys, Our April is starting off in Kenya and ending in Tennessee. As I wrote in our last update we were blessed to send out a pastor from our church to a region about 3 hours from our church. The pastor and his wife moved out where there is no running water or electricity. This was even new to them even Eldoret has those luxuries. Well more has happened since then.
Pastor Ed Compean and his wife Kelli (one the Calvary regional leaders and his wife who is a nurse) came to visit our church to do a medical outreach. I will say, living in Kenya and using the medical system here is pretty uninformative. The doctors here do not inform you on how to keep from getting simple sicknesses; such as washing you hands often to avoid intestinal sicknesses or to stay home if you have a fever or are showing signs of flu etc... They do not teach you to protect others by staying home when you are very sick. For example... I had a mom bring her baby with mumps into our nursery to play with the other babies because she was never taught about contagious sicknesses. So enough about that... We had Kelli the nurse come to speak with our church about how to be good stewards of our bodies and how to avoid simple sicknesses and how to cure simple sicknesses by what we eat. This was a great learning experience for all of us. She taught us how to have clean drinking water without a filter, how to eat certain things for certain illnesses that will make you better, she informed on how sexual diseases are spread and how to avoid them. She answered numerous questions relating to all sorts of issues and shared what the Bible had to say about all these issues including abstinence.
Pastor Ed Shared the following morning with our church and was received very well. We thank them for coming.
The week of Easter we arrived for our furlough in Crossville Tennessee to visit Kelsey's family. Josh was given the privilege of getting to share that sunday. After then, We hit the ground running and were at a different church every week for all of may. We also got too see most of Josh's Family.
Half way through may Kelsey was given the privilege of being the guest speaker of Calvary Chapel Crossville Tennessee's Woman's day of Refreshing. It was such a wonderful time spending time with them, teaching and getting to lead worship with my mom too.

Josh was able to get out to two different pastors conferences and just soak up the Word of God by men older in the Lord than him. It was truly a time of refreshing.
We were Received so well by all the churches that we were able to share at. The Lord Blessed our church with the opportunity to send our a pastor in our Church. He and His family will be going to the village Vahiga to start a new church. We took a team out there to help build his house out of mud. This was a fun time of ministering to this family. They have no running water or electricity.

Josh and I are planning a trip to the States. There are some very specific reasons we need to come now. It has become to costly for Calvary Chapel Eldoret to remain in Eldoret town so we want to buy land to put the church on once and for all. We have shared before that our heart is really to raise up leaders here in town, to disciple and send them back out into their villages to start churches. We want to put a discipleship school and a church on the property. We are going to be raising money within the church here in the next few months to go towards this project. We want to come share this vision in the churches back in the States too.
Josh is going to be able to go to about 3 pastor’s conferences while we are home which is a huge blessing and refreshment for Him. We are going to visiting Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Maine, Pennsylvania, Indiana and He will be going to California. If you are a pastor and would like Josh to come share the vision of Gospel for Kenya with your church please contact us ASAP at Lawrencejosh95@yahoo.com so we can put it on our Calendar since we only have so many Sundays in the States.
We will also be visiting family while we are home!
We are trying to buy tickets leaving Kenya on the 26th of April and coming back on the 16th of August. We are supported exclusively by Gods provision through the support of others. The plane tickets to travel for this trip do not fit in that budget. If the Lord puts it on your heart to help in that way we have a PayPal account under lawrencejosh95@yahoo.com To donate online to our financial facilitators go to https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/ShepherdsStaffMissionFacil/OnlineDonation.html?account=5529%20Josh%20and%20Kelsey%20Lawrence
If anyone has an extra car while we are in Maine that they would let us borrow that would be great also. We will give more firm dates later when we have them. Please pray for us, for fruit for this trip, for the kids as we travel and for provision.
Thanks all

Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
Last month we started the paperwork for Zephaniah to become an official American citizen. This all happened in good time! We are currently applying for new work permits (a 4 year Visa) for Josh and the family. This is going to get tricky. We have been told that the government is not going to be allowing westerners to stay longer than 2 years. They are saying that they want to create more jobs for Kenyans. This wont happen if they send all the westerners away. We think there is something deeper going on. There are a lot of Muslims in the government and I think they don’t want missionaries here. This is all speculation. Nevertheless…. We need prayer for this process. Once our current visa expires in February if we are not approved we will all have to leave the country and come back in. This will give us 3 months in the country as tourists; if it is not renewed in that following 3 months we will need to do it again. We know that the Lord will have us here as long as He wants. He knows all these things but He still tells us to pray about our concerns so there it is.
Also last month:
Our Car broke down and the part was impossible to find in Kenya. We started looking online and found one in the states for $75. We found the same part in Uganda for $700. Through the Lords help we were able to get the part in the States and send it with a family member of Missionaries here and she brought it to us very quickly! This was a miracle because things usually don’t make it to Kenya quickly. The part was for a vehicle with a different name and we were not sure that it would even work but it DID! We praise the Lord for this.
December:
Josh did his first wedding and an African one at that! It was good. It went a little rough with the difference in cultural things. Weddings here never start on time so it was 3 hours late! Despite the bumps along the way they were married in the end. That’s what counts.

So many things have happened it’s hard to know where to start.
We had a nice Christmas, it was spent with 2 different families and a single girl who came for breakfast. It was wonderful to spend nice time with friends who feel more like family. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWEYpJDyEBDgEQoru4Ty8f4WqTRQ9HmExBxy0qZduJP9hxU29GpOEiwFPmJMawQ50_Us5ExXRKPP8R1_eZKWxjenXmKUIw6ZAd6F5kf2KPwpkoLH0eZk8GrTRV21TeTuFfNinAcy1lNQw/s1600/1012231_10152071593954590_1385679653_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWEYpJDyEBDgEQoru4Ty8f4WqTRQ9HmExBxy0qZduJP9hxU29GpOEiwFPmJMawQ50_Us5ExXRKPP8R1_eZKWxjenXmKUIw6ZAd6F5kf2KPwpkoLH0eZk8GrTRV21TeTuFfNinAcy1lNQw/s320/1012231_10152071593954590_1385679653_n.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5YsiPdlkGBJ07rxe5kXBymvNfSGA-OV6Ki9AbBBUGY-i1I3qPlVsPGu_ahcGa1Y-SJEfoLFj-U3ynGQWFwy9Kh-99GkB4o_MRu50hmzVLIGMeTTZ-L-m-OJpChbAGO6EjBvjJdowkqWo/s1600/1208891_10200700642974211_28659759_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5YsiPdlkGBJ07rxe5kXBymvNfSGA-OV6Ki9AbBBUGY-i1I3qPlVsPGu_ahcGa1Y-SJEfoLFj-U3ynGQWFwy9Kh-99GkB4o_MRu50hmzVLIGMeTTZ-L-m-OJpChbAGO6EjBvjJdowkqWo/s320/1208891_10200700642974211_28659759_n.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeFjDrx5k9-dK7fHW8IzbqN9ucYR2Y7QCXQOb9ouVWE3G5BKsLqgFiMF7EoqwdyjnDLjT3rEFfo5QfGy-0Em6gXSdg-zNGbYCZZtKG6EPyUuF_nf-pMddR2m4GtDPfIiUU6fN-prpvJTc/s1600/1521299_10152071593679590_1444365392_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeFjDrx5k9-dK7fHW8IzbqN9ucYR2Y7QCXQOb9ouVWE3G5BKsLqgFiMF7EoqwdyjnDLjT3rEFfo5QfGy-0Em6gXSdg-zNGbYCZZtKG6EPyUuF_nf-pMddR2m4GtDPfIiUU6fN-prpvJTc/s320/1521299_10152071593679590_1444365392_n.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihvy8D6PrpCmhhnEDVJBcTb8UfFJP9qjuJGzrgbQ7w4YOuqDBgBkqpRrBGpoAqxmuGEF5ZXx2ORSI5ijKXg3hQvNukyeHRRuVQd86HuzNIkKMvUcY4JUZDM_x5GVhBLvN4f79BKFnr1EU/s1600/1525301_10152071588804590_625727230_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihvy8D6PrpCmhhnEDVJBcTb8UfFJP9qjuJGzrgbQ7w4YOuqDBgBkqpRrBGpoAqxmuGEF5ZXx2ORSI5ijKXg3hQvNukyeHRRuVQd86HuzNIkKMvUcY4JUZDM_x5GVhBLvN4f79BKFnr1EU/s320/1525301_10152071588804590_625727230_n.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp7oNx7aBxc-vXAzm_moCq5Nxp9CpPldny9CiBT6OZhzaPvTp5iWF0oiYEaG4-6EhfURQvkcS1Y6cbRwouRmYRkmXgHqSZQgfexzfiIqVCpLTEqw17qZD9Fb17BVsY_iQSLedFkBWob2I/s1600/1530508_10152071593719590_187915760_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp7oNx7aBxc-vXAzm_moCq5Nxp9CpPldny9CiBT6OZhzaPvTp5iWF0oiYEaG4-6EhfURQvkcS1Y6cbRwouRmYRkmXgHqSZQgfexzfiIqVCpLTEqw17qZD9Fb17BVsY_iQSLedFkBWob2I/s320/1530508_10152071593719590_187915760_n.jpg" /></a>
A few days ago Josh’s father passed away He had been sick but it was still shocking and a bit heartbreaking. Josh is flying right now January 1st to the States where he will perform the funeral and spend some much needed time with his grieving family. Please pray for strength for him and his family in this time. The kids and I had to stay back due to funds. The miracle behind all this is that we didn’t have any money for Josh to go but through a Facebook fundraiser so many people participated in getting Josh to the states. Enough money was raised in 48 hours for Josh’s ticket and for car, lodging and food. Thank you all for your encouraging words and for the help. It is impossible to thank each person because half of the people who helped donate I don’t even know! We are humbled and blessed. I pray that the Lord will abundantly bless and provide for each of the needs of you all. For those of you who helped… There are no words to express our gratitude. Thank you.

We held our first baptism where some guys decided to show their commitment to the Lord reckoning their old man dead and Christ alive in their lives. This was a very joyful moment for us.

In the Beginning of October, Josh was able to take 6 church leaders to the first annual CC east African pastors’ conference. This was a huge deal and a life changing event for all of the guys that went. We praise the Lord for providing for all of these guys to go. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKUjtv4J4JIQZEjZP-tOkWXGSKfxZYqFAP5EgnqNGkdqPvMgPyAmo9wEZcOaeaZwDh4TkGFHtwqcbZN3wfbRuEWA6Svvw3NxTWPiyuHjLPsEAdo6Y3dt9PQ0qRwDNNheMUe2ECI7Mrvu0/s1600/DSC_0709.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKUjtv4J4JIQZEjZP-tOkWXGSKfxZYqFAP5EgnqNGkdqPvMgPyAmo9wEZcOaeaZwDh4TkGFHtwqcbZN3wfbRuEWA6Svvw3NxTWPiyuHjLPsEAdo6Y3dt9PQ0qRwDNNheMUe2ECI7Mrvu0/s320/DSC_0709.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDoLQC0H76GZkAGFVQ78X-5Te5SMo_qDXJa_8AXFu9um5BkPIRPz2KX2dVb35bFLJsIUfHJ2t14_1192y8WP6r6ZkRgPhtTn8c0Pg2D4paT295eIaWPY-S2IQkMhIfD-_Lip6xrxaNosM/s1600/DSC_0703.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDoLQC0H76GZkAGFVQ78X-5Te5SMo_qDXJa_8AXFu9um5BkPIRPz2KX2dVb35bFLJsIUfHJ2t14_1192y8WP6r6ZkRgPhtTn8c0Pg2D4paT295eIaWPY-S2IQkMhIfD-_Lip6xrxaNosM/s320/DSC_0703.JPG" /></a></div>
We are still praying that the Lord provides Land for the church so we can have a permanent home for church. Rent is very expensive in Eldoret and we would love to be able to invest in other ministry opportunities! Please keep this in pray with us.
We also are still praying that the Lord raises up leaders in this body of Christ out here. We also need a lot of help with children’s ministry. Our Nursery has grown so much in this past year; it is a blessing to see but that means… we need more help We praise the Lord for this problem.
Thank you all so much for your continued prayer and support. You are such a blessing to us.

I want to start this post out just giving you guys an idea of what food shopping is like. My family recently came to town and took some of these pictures and since I have never posted any of our food market here are a few.

We want to start this update by thanking all of you who have been praying for us these past few months. Our Baby boy was born July 25 by C-section. He was about two and a half weeks early and was a whopping 6.6 pounds! He is healthy and has gained 2 lbs. so far. We are so thankful Zephaniah Joseph; this new addition to our family. Please be praying for all that we will need to do concerning the paperwork to make him an official American citizen. We also want to Thank ALL of you who have allowed the Lord to use you to help provide the finances to pay for the birth of the baby. We have been so blessed to see the body of Christ coming together to help us out.

Also another answer to pray was that My sister Callie, My mom and dad all got to come out here for the birth of the baby and to help out with things around the house as I (Kelsey) recover from surgery. This was such a sweet blessing from Jesus!

<b>Church Life</b>
<b>Please be praying on behalf of the church here for the following:</b>
We have taken a break with evangelism for a few reasons one of them being we are in rainy season so it makes for a hard time going out on the streets. We will be starting the crusades and the street evangelism again and are praying that hearts will be soft to hear the gospel.
Please be praying for our church, for holiness in the body of the believers. We have about 150 people coming to the church right now. We need the Lords strength and wisdom to minister to all of them! We want to start being more aggressive in finding a piece of Land to build our own church building. This will take the Lords provision because the cost of Land is great here. Finding land in town in Eldoret is next to impossible. Eldoret is growing and with that is lack of space. We really need the Lords wisdom with where would be a perfect place since a lot of people walk to church.

Calvary Chapel Eldoret is on mission in this next 3 months, we are doing outreaches to about 10 of the surrounding towns on Saturdays. We visited a place called Kamkunji 2 weeks ago and there has been some really cool fruit. On this trip a Muslim lady sat for the whole thing and got saved at the end. This is a really big deal for a Muslim to change religions. We also had many other people pray for Christ to come into their hearts on this event. There were about 4 to 6 people that come to church the following day just hungry to hear Gods word. Please pray for these few. The Lord loves them so much. We pray they stay in fellowship and that they not only have changed hearts but changed lives too. Its easy at a crusade to give your life to the Lord but harder with the every day choices.
Here are some pictures of the church members out ministering to the people

In the past 2 months of Prison Ministry and outreaches somewhere around 500 people have accepted Christ into their hearts; we pray for these people that they continue to walk in Christ as a new creation. Josh has been showing some creation Videos at the Prison that shows the Lies of Evolution and reveals the Glory of God. Well each time he showed these videos 20 people stood up to give their lives to the Lord. There are a few that keep standing to get saved over again. Those we pray will just take what the Lord has said at face value and be assured they are saved “if they Confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead that they will be saved”. For those in prison here in Kenya, it’s a horrible place. Knowing the Lord and experiencing His amazing forgiveness is such a beautiful thing. Please pray this for those who have gotten saved there.
Family
Please continue to pray for the health of our family. Josh has been pretty sick over this past month and we cannot seem to figure out why or what is the problem. As you can imagine that makes his ministry pretty hard to do especially when he loses his voice. Layla is also pretty sick right now. We would appreciate your prayers for her healing. Kelsey is doing well. Only 2 months to go till our Baby BOY is delivered. Please pray for continual safety for this pregnancy.

Dear Friends and Family.
This is the first blog update in a few months and a lot has happened since the last one.
Kenya had our presidential elections March 4th and we had asked you all to pray for safety for the missionaries and for the Kenyans here. Things went very well. For the most part Kenya was very peaceful. We still have a little ways to go because the candidate that lost is challenging the results so when those are announced it could get violent but we are praying against that.
We have also had 2 teams come out in the last month. They were a great encouragement and they both were very fruitful. The First team from Calvary Chapel Bangor Maine Did some orphanage work here with an orphanage we are associated with here, they went out to a more rural community to visit a church that is friends with ours. They also helped us work on the church; since we expanded even more there was a bunch of painting and building that needed to be done.
The second team flew in 2 days before the election. They were coming to do a big evangelism outreach which we were a little Leary about since we were being told to lay low but it ended up being a perfect time to get onto the streets and tell people about the redeeming love of Jesus Christ. Many, Many people heard the gospel including multiple groups of over 400 people and over 100 people asked Christ to come into their lives. Pray for these people as many people claim salvation and then forget about the Lord a month later. Pray that they get connected to good churches that will teach the Bible to them. They did some street evangelism in Eldoret and the Lord used that greatly too. A guy named Ben got saved and has been coming to our church for the last few weeks.
CC Eldoret has been growing immensely which is encouraging and challenging. We are still praying that the Lord will send us a solid worship leader and more children’s ministry leaders. It seems that we just don’t have enough teachers. We are praying that as the people coming to church continue to learn and grow that they will be inspired to want to serve the Lord in the different ways that they are gifted in.
Calvary Chapel Eldoret is now officially all registered and legal with the government. We are working under an umbrella ministry that we started called Gospel for Kenya Missions. The reason we did this is because Josh really wanted to start other ministries aside from just the church so we kind of expanded the ministry aspect with the Government. This means that if we want to we can open Schools, guest houses, send out different churches or open orphanages. That doesn’t mean that we are doing all these things but we would not need to get separate paperwork if we wanted to do all this.
What it does mean…. Gospel for Kenya missions (CC Eldoret) is opening a school of ministry, one year program in the next month. We will be raising people up and teaching them how Biblical ministry is done, teaching them how to defend their faith and how to study the word. We are very excited about this. We are hoping that we can get some different teachers from the States to come and teach a one or two week course throughout the year but we will see what God does.
Our family is doing good. Please pray for us as we continue to labor here in Kenya at the church and on the streets. Josh remains pretty busy with all the different ministries here. Kelsey is continuing to grow as she is in her 5th month of pregnancy. Please pray for renewed strength as this pregnancy is really wiping her out; also chasing Layla around is a pretty exhausting job too.
Thanks all for your prayers and continued support to us through prayer and encouragement.
Josh, Kelsey and Layla.

To all of you who have been praying for us or supporting us, Thank you. It means more than you will ever know. This has been an exciting month with some more changes. I know we are using this phrase but it is the truth, we are outgrowing our facility again! This is a great problem. People are coming, hearing the Word of god and getting excited about it.
We will not e moving church buildings again, we really want to keep that to a minimum because it is not good for the church members. We will be tearing the big dividing wall down that divided our space from the space next door and renting the room next to us as well. We got a great deal on the other half so we are very excited! We have some missionaries that have been coming to the church over the past month and it has been such refreshment to us all. The Church is so excited to see new people coming and coming back again!
Answer to prayer… We have been doing lots of Paperwork to become a society which means we can buy property, do legal weddings, funerals etc. it also means if we ever wanted to open an orphanage, school or have a guest house to make some money for the ministry here, that we could. Well we have been approved by the government in record timing. We just need to receive the paperwork to complete it. But the hard part is done! We are Called Gospel for Kenya. Praise the Lord for this! This was something that was a HUGE deal and now it’s done.
We will be having 2 teams coming for America in the next few weeks, please pray for great success with all they will be doing. Also pray for great safety for them as they come. Our elections are coming up March 4 which is right after our second team gets here. Our last Election 5 years ago was desperately devastating to the country as there were a lot of deaths and dangers that happened between a few of the tribes here. We are praying that this does not happen again but very well could. Please pray for a peaceful election, that the body of Christ will unite rather than tear each other apart. Pray for safety for all of us that are here during this time. There have already been some tribal clashes leading up to the day and we are praying it will not go any further. Pray, Pray, Pray!
Our Family is doing good.. little baby Lawrence is growing well and healthy. Kelsey is doing ok too; a little sick at times from the pregnancy. Layla is doing great, growing and learning tons of new things and words. Josh is busy as ever with the different ministries, side jobs like building random things for different missionaries around. This is a blessing because it gives work to some of the guys in our church.
I think that’s all for now. Please just continue to pray for safety and that the Lord provides for all this new growth in the church.
We love you all.

Since we got back to Kenya there has been a lot happening here. Josh has picked up all his usual ministries and it has been such a blessing.
Prison Ministry
Just before Christmas Josh went to teach at the prison and 10 men stood up to receive Jesus in their hearts. The Lord is working in this prison. We pray that the Lord will continue to work in the hearts of these men.
<b>
CC Eldoret</b>
The church did very well while we were gone. They we also pretty excited that we came back. For the last 2 weeks josh has given an alter call at church and 2 weeks in a row, one person raised their hands to receive the Lord. We did a Christmas eve service where we did a teaching, worship and a meal. It was such a nice time of fellowship.
We are registering with the government to become a society, please pray for this process. We really need this to go through quickly and without a problem. If there are no problems it will allow us to be able to do many different kinds of ministries here such as: School of Ministry, Officiating Weddings, boarding houses etc. ..
<b>
Our Personal Family</b>
Over the last few years our security has kind of been an issue so Josh is putting up a fence for us to make our property more secure. I really praise the Lord for the provision to do this.
Kelsey is Pregnant with our second child. Please pray for a safe pregnancy and safe delivery. She has been having a bit of morning sickness during the days so it makes it hard to be out and about during the day.
Layla is growing fast and talking more and more. She is doing really well.
Josh is busy running around doing paperwork, ministry and the projects on our house. He is excited to have another baby.
Well That’s all for now. Thanks all for the prayers and support. We couldn’t be out here if it wasn’t for all our our friends and family praying for us and supporting what we are doing.

I Know it has been a few months since I have updated this so Let me fill you all in on what is going on with the Lawrence Family.
The beginning of September was spent on getting ready for our first Furlough to the States; but not only that, also on hosting a team from Belfast Maine to come to Eldoret to minister to Our church, to us and the community around us.
Lets start with the Mission team. They arrived on the 3rd and hit the ground running. While they were here they did street evangelism in the surrounding areas of Eldoret. Calvary Chapel Eldoret also joined them on these outreaches. So many people were so open to talk about the Lord and open their lives to the team to minister. The following week we has so many new faces in church wanting more of the Word of God.
The team also brought many things such as, shoes, toys, coloring books and crayons and Bibles to pass out the church and to orphanages and to a village that we at times minister in. Everyone who received a gift was so grateful for the Love of Christ that was poured out on them. So many people said that they had been praying for the Lord to provide some of these things and this was an answer to their prayer. One woman also said that it encouraged her to wait and trust that the Lord would answer her other prayers.
The team also went to a place called Vahiga county and did some medical mission work. There is a big Jigger problem among the very poor, it is a tiny flea that gets under the skin and turns into a worm. This gets into the blood and if not taken care of, some have to have legs and arms to be amputated or even death in serious cases. They gathered about 100 or more people together and helped them get rid of these awful things but also preached the gospel to all those waiting. It was a great time of ministry for them.
They also did some work on our church painting walls and our floors and built walls for children’s ministry. It looks beautiful now, this was a great answer to our prayers.
After the team left... so did we. We have now been in the states for over a month. In this time we have visited family in Arkansas, Missouri and Maine The Lord allowed us to go to a Pastors conference which was incredibly refreshing! We thank Him for that.
Currently we are in Maine sharing with a different church every week of the things God is doing in Kenya and Josh has had many opportunities to teach the Word while we have been here. It has been so wonderful to see faces that we have not seen in 2 years. Layla has been a bit sick since we have come to the States, she could use some prayer. This trip has been a little hard on her since we have been traveling so much. The Lord has been so faithful to provide for our every need and we praise Him for it.
This week Josh just took off to Go with a team to New Jersey to Help with Disaster relief (Cutting down trees, repairing and bringing the gospel into some devastating situations). Please pray for safety for Him and his team as they do this and also for the Lord to open peoples hearts for His precious Gospel. He is also teaching at Calvary Chapel Bangor, Maine this coming Sunday and is excited about that.
I (Kelsey) get the opportunity to share with the Ladies at Lincoln Christian Fellowship this Saturday morning and I would appreciate your prayers that the Lord uses me to Minister to his Ladies there as I share the Word with them.
I may have missed things but this is the gist of what has been going on with us.
Please continue to pray that the Lord provides continued monthly support for us as it does cost something to minister and live in a different country.
